Selective Memory 062

I finally made it to ArtPrize on Friday. I visited a handful of the 161 registered venues and saw some amazing work. The venue that clearly stood out was SiTE:LAB @ 54 Jefferson. SiTE:LAB is a Grand Rapids-based non-profit that organizes art exhibits in temporary locations. Using the former home of the Grand Rapids Public Museum, the space was reclaimed for an exhibition of largely site-specific and installation-based work. Surviving dioramas were transformed by several of the exhibiting artists. The nascent hoarder in me was particularly drawn to Design 99's Displacement (13208 Klinger St). Contained within the museum's showcases were the contents of an abandoned 900 square foot home in Detroit. More on SiTE:LAB below and a link to images of my ArtPrize visit.
